Summer Breeze

This is what I have been up to and publishing in the past few weeks:

My Basel Top 10

A big interview and feature on Bruce High Quality Foundation in the latest issue of Sleek (issue 38)

The new bright red issue of Twin (issue 8) containing a ten page interview with Cameron Jamie - a real exclusive - as well as profiles on women behind the scenes in the art world, profiles of artists including Nicholas Deshayes, Raphael Hefti, the writing of Paul Kneale, and artists project from Paul Pieroni, SPACE Studios and Rhys Coren

And I went to Copenhagen for the first time to wander around and conceive an exhibition for September, where I enjoyed Roman Liska at IMO Projects, Tal R at Bo Bjerggaard (pictured above) and Troels Carlsen at V1 gallery.

Smile Smile Smile

On way to Basel tomorrow and am packing (in a suitcase a quarter of the size of the one I brought to Venice - I'm learning). Listening to Jayson Musson's incredible CVS Bangers mix which I recommend immensely. I've know him since his Plastic Little days, put him in my last book and am very very proud in a show at Grimm Museum back in 2010 (the first time his alter ego Hennessey Youngman had a gallery outing I might add). The mix cannot help but make you smile - in a magic FM in a taxi on the way home in 4am kind of way - and inspired this little blog of smiley art.

Venice 2013

Before I went to Venice, these were the ten artists I was excited about (and apparently over 10,000 people read this which is mental).

When I came back these are the works that blew my mind: Best of Venice 2013

If you want to hear me blab about it all in person, I'll be joining JJ Charlesworth and Paul Pieroni at the ICA for a lunchtime debrief at 1pm: http://www.ica.org.uk/37950/Talks/Culture-Now-Venice-Debrief.html

These are the things that did not get mentioned in the official story:

Dancing from the minute the music started until 3am on a weird island at Jeremy Deller's incredible party, complete with naked table dancing man (who later put his clothes on, came up to me and knelt in worship at my feet as I danced - as you do); sharing stolen vodka in Le Baron in the Bauer with Anri Sala and Theaster Gates's table; eating asparagus lasagna at Il Paradiso Perduto in Canneregio not once but twice; the amazing Pasticceria Rizzardini beneath our flat for daily macchiati and crostata mele at the bar each morning; hanging out at the Emdash party in a room so rococo it looks like angels vomited and it dried; bumping into half of London at sandwich shops, kebab shops and of course the brilliant Palazzo Peckham; being overwhelmed by beauty at Museo Fortuny
