A Race Through Gallery Weekend

I'm here for the week (arrived and the Reisling has already killed me...). Here are my recommendations:

Wednesday
Bel Etage is putting on outdoor group show including Roman Signer and Sven Johne; Followed by 36 Girls show at Bar Babbette, Karl Marx Allee 36 (which starts at 8pm but noone will get til 10)

Thursday
Gastalten Space is opening a massive collage show, Luxus Loft Studio show slash party at Friedenstr. 16, 10249 Berlin from 7pm; John Kleckner showing work among others at Laced 95 Torstrasse.

Friday
Is the big day of all the openings - mostly between 4 and 9pm.
Up in Wedding Albert Oehlen at Max Hetzler and Andreas Hofer at Guido Baudach. Elsewhere Helen Marten at Johann Konig, Claudia Weiser at Ben Kaufmann, John Bock at Klosterfelde, while Raymond Pettibon and Anselm Reyle at CFA.

There's a whole English vibe: Noble and Webster are opening Blain Southern's new Berlin space 6-8pm - in the same building as the temporary frieze d/e bar on Potsdamer Str. 77/79, launching their German edition. Fiona Banner at Barbara Thumm is near by as is Le Gun are in town with an opening 6-9pm Bourouina Gallery

Dean Sameshima 5 - 7PM at Peres's Mitte space followed by Peres Projects BBQ and Pete Wheeler opening at their Kreuzberg place 7-10pm.
End of the night only one place to go Picknick Club with Oliver Laric and Daniel Keller and Nik Kosmas from Aids3D DJing among others.

The galleries will be rammed on the weekend but still may see a thing here and there missed from above.

Why didn't I know I'm in with love Friedrich Kunath?

I stumbled through Hoxton Square today and came across Friedrich Kunath's first solo show in London which opened last night . Its a perfect amalgam of psychedelic references, strange sculptures, paintings, junk lighting - all put together in a weird room installation. Best solo show I've seen this year so far. All the invigilators stood in dark corners reading books so you couldnt tell if they were part of the work or not. These teeny pics from the Whitecube site above by Ben Westoby were all I could find online. There's a catalogue out mid May. Some more tasters from past shows at Andrea Rosen below.
