RIP Mike Kelley

As most art fans know, Mike Kelley died earlier this week. It's so sad. He had a huge personal impact on me and I imagine many other people. Apart from Destroy All Monsters, apart from all the dirty mixed media work, for me what Kelley has been making in recent yers has been awe inspiring. The Kandors shows at Jablonka in Berlin and Galerie Hussenot in Paris in particular were so atmospheric and strange and emotive. Here are just a few images and videos showing why he was such a genius.

I've waited three years for this catalogue and finally hurray its out. I saw this MIke Kelley at Jablonka 3 years ago and it blew me away. The hardback catalogue (which feels a bit like an oversized Tintin format) is out now. Picked up last week at my version of a crack den - Konig Books in Berlin.

I love Mike Kelley's work at the moment - gives me goosebumps. The best weird trippy Superman inspired art going. There's still a show up in Paris this month at Galerie Hussenot I so hope a book of this work comes out soon... been wanting that since the Jablonka show in Berlin a couple years back.
